Surprise! Beautiful old buildings with ivy climbing up and trailing down and the traffic lessened as I meandered along Andrássy Avenue. Buildings similar to this line the walkway. Yes, I know this one has no ivy, but will be posting more pictures.

This street is wonderful for shopping, eating, strolling and window shopping. I loved this window display: Simple and chic -

Walking in Budapest
Remember saying that I would spend a few posts on Andrássy Avenue - folks, we are going to be here awhile. Enjoy! That's the best way to explore Budapest - slow and steady.

House of Terror (Terror Háza)
This is the only room where photographs are allowed - standing in this room watching the water/oil wash around the tank and the victims' pictures was another moving moment.

House of Terror (Terror Háza), Andrássy út 60
I'm not a history buff, so this wasn't on my Must See list. One day on a walk up the avenue I spent about an hour looking at all the tiny pictures of people who did not survive - I had no idea how this historical place would impact me. I few days later I did enter the museum - I learned - I cried - I was deeply touched. Hungarians know how to preserve their history. http://www.terrorhaza.hu/en/index_2.html
What I haven't shown
I've introduced a very narrow window of Andrássy Avenue (Andrássy út ). This avenue is filled with restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores, banks, and I know it's hard to believe: the Nike Store. The restaurants and coffee shops spill out onto the side walks with outdoor seating.
